COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – Routine eyecare update
The Eye Centre in Rosyth has been operating as normal since 3rd August for all routine eyecare with emergency appointments still treated as a priority. Your eye exam time will now be allocated 40mins chair time to allow cleaning of all equipment between examinations and space for patients to choose new frames etc. All frames are sanitised after trying on and our staff are wearing full PPE face masks, face shields and aprons for all our safety in stopping the spread of the virus. Please note that we will request to check your temperature (contactless) on entering the practice as well as answering a Covid questionnaire.
Opening hours have changed back to near normal Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm. Full opening hours are in place to allow appointments for collections and adjustments to avoid crowding within the practice for staff and patient safety. We still have a backlog from March 2020 which we are recalling at present. We understand a majority of our patients are tested annually (Diabetic/Glaucoma/Macular Degeneration/Cataract) and we will recall you in due course. We are opening extra clinic days to accommodate the backlog so please only make an appointment when you receive your recall letter/text reminder. Clinic days are currently Tues/Thur/Fri. If you are struggling with your vision or have an emergency then you will be seen as a priority regardless of when your routine appointment is due.
Essential eyecare is mainly for those patients who are experiencing significant change in their vision which may affect their work/driving/lifestyle, including children’s glasses that have broken or become too small. If you call or email for an appointment we can discuss this with you and in some cases receive a call back from the Optician to schedule an appointment.
We are also operating a full PPE setup and reduced service which means hourly appointments to maintain social distancing within the practice. Please wear your face mask when attending for any reason. We also have alcohol gel at reception to clean your hands when attending. The practice is sanitised between each appointment and any frames worn are quarantined for 72hours then UV cleaned/Saniwipe before being put back on display.
Public safety and wellbeing of our patients and staff is the primary concern. Please be courteous and avoid touching surfaces when in store. We will not be requiring any signatures for any service at this time, a paper copy of prescriptions will be issued on request or email copies will be provided for those requiring this service.
We appreciate your patience and understanding for these measures that are necessary for infection control.
